STEP participant secures permanent role thanks to new Learning Partnerships and NHS training scheme!
Yodit a single mum of 3 who recently moved from London to Leeds has been offered a part-time position within the NHS as a Facilities Technician, thanks to a new Learning Partnerships and NHS training scheme!
Learning Partnerships worked closely with the NHS to create a new training course for unemployed people in the East Leeds community. Yodit who, after a distressing experience in a previous care role, had found herself unemployed and struggling with her mental health.
Being unfamiliar with the city of Leeds and where to turn for help, Yodit eventually came across the STEP programme delivered by Learning Partnerships. Once enrolled Yodit participated in the Leeds Adult Learning Inspire and Achieve programme to gain the necessary support to apply for the NHS roles.
Yodit improved her self-confidence, knowledge of the recruitment process, the NHS core values, and knowledge and skills to apply for jobs. Yodit was supported throughout the process with group and 1-2-1 help and support to pass IT assessments and coaching around interview skills.
“I have so much more confidence and self-belief now. Everyone at Learning Partnerships has given me so much help and support I can’t believe it. I never would have done this without them. My children are so happy for me. They can’t wait until I start work. I’m so proud of myself I cannot tell you.”
Yodit was shortlisted for the position of Facilities Technician and successfully got the job. Well done Yodit! The next ‘NHS Into Work’ round is now underway with the following one being in January 2020!
